The World is Your Lobster! Montblanc Presents Immersive Pop-Up in Collaboration With Artist Philip Colbert

14/10/2019

Between the 15th-20th October, an exclusive pop-up at Spitalfields Market will allow customers to experience Philip Colbert’s distinctive hyper-pop lobster world. This creative journey, presented as ‘In Transit’, showcases the new travel line from Montblanc.

Best known for his unique art universe of Lobster Land, (currently on view at the Multimedia Art Museum Moscow until to the 17th November 2019) London-native and contemporary artist Philip Colbert refers to his alter ego as “the animated protagonist of surrealism”. In his paintings, you’ll find influences from old masters like Van Dyck and Reubens, combined with his obsessions of contemporary consumer imagery and the saturation of digital media.

‘In Transit’ marks a truly unique way for the fine craftsmanship and luxury design of Montblanc to join forces with Colbert’s neon pop aesthetic to bring a one-of-a-kind experience to the diverse, cutting-edge community of East London.

The extraordinary craftsmanship of the Arts Market along with the fiercely strong community culture and the iconic heritage of Spitalfields itself, made E1 the perfect location for the collaboration.

Colbert has customised 49 black cabin-size #MY4810 trolleys with a painted limited-edition logo design, which have been assembled to form one monumental wall inside the store. Not only will these be available to purchase to the lucky shoppers who get to 47 Brushfield Street first, they will also be treated to: an experience featuring an army of Colbert’s mini Lobster sculptures, a live screening of the artist’s film ‘The Year of the Lobster’ and unique window displays.

The pop-up store will be open between 15 – 20 October at 47 Brushfield Street, Spitalfields Market
