From Spitalfields, with love

28/01/2022

When it comes to Valentine’s Day, do you go all out, or prefer something a little more low key? Here at Spitalfields, we live by the ‘go big or go home’ mantra. Whether you’re in a long-term relationship or a blossoming romance, this is the time to pull out all the stops and really impress your other half with something sweet. Show your appreciation to the important people in your life, whether it’s a romantic partner or a gal pal or even a group of colleagues, with a little help from our annual gift guide, compiled to give you all the inspiration you need to make those closest to you feel special this February.

If you need a little more inspiration in the lead up to the big day, we’ve got plenty more where that came from here. From bespoke clothing to personalised jewellery and of course, plenty of Valentine’s Day cards to fill with sweet nothings.

Love’s the word!

While you can never go wrong with roses and a dinner date, nothing captures the heart – and the eye – quite like a piece of jewellery. This year, we suggest going one step further and surprising your significant other with something personalised by Littlesmith. The hand-lettering jewellery company who were proudly founded here in Spitalfields Market, London back in 2016.

Making every piece personal and unique, they stamp names, initials, dates, messages or locations, personal to you, to create one of a kind bespoke pieces of jewellery using the traditional method of lettering. A beautiful Valentine’s Day gift for any hopeless romantic!

Visit their stall in Spitalfields Market every weekend, or order online from Littlesmith website.

Sealed with a kiss

If you’re doing V-Day on a budget this year, or OTT gifts aren’t your thing, nothing pulls on the heartstrings more than a beautifully penned Valentine’s card. Especially when it’s courtesy of the creatives at Paper Wonderland.

Specialising in the highest quality pop-ups in a range of beautiful designs, these Valentine’s Day card connoisseurs can be found in the Trader’s Market every week from Wednesday-Saturday.

Love at first bite

Jetting off to Paris for the night is probably a little too extravagant for the majority, even if it is the most romantic Monday night of the year, so why not transport your date to the French capital in the form of Galvin Bistrot & Bar, located right here in the beating heart of East London. Head this way to make a reservation before it’s too late, then just sit back, relax and let the talented chefs take care of the rest – it’s bound to be an evening to remember.

You’re my soil-mate

While flowers might be the staple Valentine’s Day gift across the world, house plants are just as special, and with the right amount of love and care, they really are the gift that keeps on giving. We can’t help you choose, but we know some experts that will be able to give you guidance to avoid a Valentine’s Day disaster. From African Milk Plants to Alocasias, The Plant Warehouse has a huge range of blooms and botanicals waiting to be taken into a loving home.
