Have you been inspired by this years’ Great British Bake Off? Whether it’s made you don your apron and try your hand at rustling up your own ‘Stroopwafels’, or given you a sudden urge to go on a mission for goodies ready to be back in front of the sofa for 8pm sharp, we’ve shared our top ‘Bake Off’ bites below.
Lokma of London
Brand new to Lamb street, Lokma of London is serving up fried dough balls, originating from Istanbul. Each serving comes slathered in your choice of peanut butter, chocolate sauce or double cream, or if you’re feeling adventurous, you can take advantage of their specials: salted caramel and brownie bites, to name but a few. And with names like Smile, Laugh and LOL, this dessert also comes with an instant good mood.
Konditor Cakes
With every treat handmade in-house, Konditor is brimming with every type of baked goods you could dream of. From their legendary gooey chocolate brownies, to snack packs of biscuits and truffles, to decadent slabs of cake available by the slice. Will you be taking home a piece of the current people’s champ – the Curly Whirly? Or how about the seasonal Sticky Toffee? Or perhaps the Great Taste Award winning cake of the month, the Chocolate Noisette takes your fancy? Make sure you browse the menu before you visit, or you’ll spend so long mm-ing and ah-ing that you’ll miss the Signature Bake.
Sober October not for you this year? Then you have to get down to Crosstown to stock up on their Maker’s Mark doughnut/whiskey hybrid masterpiece. Their signature sourdough has been stuffed with Maker’s Mark Kentucky Bourbon custard, topped with homemade butterscotch icing then finished with a mixed nut crumble. Not feeling it? The rest of their menu boasts an array of flavours you never knew you needed, from Vegan Maple Bacon and Banana, to Sour Cherry and Pistachio.
Pastries are for life, not just for breakfast. Nude Espresso’s croissants, Lamington’s and muffins are baked fresh every morning, so you are guaranteed to enjoy the perfect ratio of crunchy exterior to sweet, soft interior with every mouthful. Make sure you get there early to have first dibs!
Need something savoury to balance out the sweet? Have a wander down Lamb street for some delicious street food. With everything from juicy brisket to indulgent pasta, follow your nose for a day full of feasting.
