Get the Spooky Spitalfields Experience

21/10/2021

Halloween is one of the oldest traditions originating from the Celts over 2,000 years ago. While they might not have been handing out sweets and dressing up as witches, ghosts and ghouls, this ancient tradition of going door to door to sing songs, which would be entertaining even now, was the start of the concept of trick-or-treating.

If you fancy a treat without the trick this October, Spitalfields market is the place to find it. With over 100 independent traders selling their unique handmade wares every week, there is always a fresh face or a new stall to explore. Make sure to stay up to date on all the events, stands and other retailers by signing up to our newsletter or through our social media channels.

We’ve also found that carving pumpkins is hungry work, so we’ve got you covered with some of the finest gourmet dishes in East London. Not to mention the incredible restaurants and retailers that are a permanent fixture in our ever-changing London market.

Eat, drink and be Scary at Crosstown

Do you know what the scariest thing that happens in Spitalfields? Some people come to visit… and don’t stop off at Crosstown! We aren’t sure how that is possible when they have a doughnut for every occasion. Coffee? They have it! Chocolate and Orange? They have it! Matcha Tea? They have it! And the seasonal specials don’t stop at Halloween either. Check out their limited edition dough bites which have been crafted with Crosstown’s spooky black cocoa dough, filled with homemade raspberry jam, topped with a dark berry glaze and finished with a spooky bat or pumpkin decoration.

Getting Spooky at Smokoloko

Smokoloko is giving the people of Spitalfields ‘pumpkin’ to talk about this October! Smoked, grilled or barbecued, don’t be scared to try something new this season with a little help from the smokehouse specialists.

Find there here in Bishops Square every day, where they have been, and continue to be firm favourite among regulars and newbies. Caution! May cause addiction.

The Spitalfields Sweeny!

The demon barber of Spitalfields market? Doesn’t quite have the same ring to it, so you can be reassured you are in safe hands. Barber Barber are experts in gentlemen’s grooming and are bringing the freshest haircuts to East London locals. Whether you are looking for a close shave or a classic skin fade, you’ll leave looking ‘fa-boo-lous’.

If that isn’t enough to entice you in, the basement bar should give you all the encouragement you need.

A Cure for the Cold Weather

Malin+Goetz at Spitalfields Market - wellness and beauty products

With the cold weather coming in and wearing a mask becoming less of a necessity during day to day life, investing in your skin is a must this Autumn. That’s where Malin + Goetz, also known as the skincare specialists, come in! With an aim to ‘uncomplicate your regime’, they ensure skincare doesn’t have to be scary.

To stop that dry zombified skin and leave you looking ‘fang-tastic’, explore their Spitalfields shop which is open 7 days a week. With a range of moisturisers, hair care and fragrances, you don’t want to miss out.
