Bedales Wines: Making wine sociable

06/12/2017

In the heart of Spitalfields E1 there is a shop held in high regard by the winos of East and Central London

Bedales Wines is a small, independent wine store, specialising in bringing unique products to people’s attention, directly from some of the finest winemakers around. The Spitalfields store features over 400 different bottles of wine from around the world, all hosted in one of the most relaxing bar settings in East London.

Bedales Wines is more than just a shop; it’s a place for wine lovers to come together, relax and enjoy their evening with a glass of their favourite tipple. It’s a place for people to learn the skills associated with wine tasting and, most importantly, it’s a place to prove that wine doesn’t have to be intimidating and complicated.

Bedales Wines

Wine for the quizzical

As part of its mission to make wine more sociable and less formal, Bedales wine bar has started a series of ‘Pub Quizzes for Winos’. However, this isn’t some hardcore quiz that can only be tackled by the most experienced of Winos and Sommeliers, questions are based around wine, but mainly features general knowledge with a fruity twist. You won’t be asked anything too technical, think more about pop culture or history where wine might feature!

Make sure you don’t miss out on the monthly Sunday quizzes, so be sure to book your place here!

Wine and music

If quizzes aren’t your forte, don’t worry! There is so much more on offer for wine aficionados and curious customers alike.

If you’re looking for a place to relax and enjoy the great atmosphere of a Spitalfields wine bar on a Monday night, then head to Bedales Wines to enjoy live music at Market Mondays. With a range of different performers playing at a volume that doesn’t prevent casual conversation, think acoustic guitars rather than drum kits, the evening music (from 5pm) is the perfect accompaniment to a bottle of wine. So it’s a very good thing that Market Mondays also boast discounts on every single bottle of wine in the shop!

Wine for friends

If you’re looking for something even more special, perhaps a venue for an anniversary or a birthday party, Bedales Wines at Spitalfields can accommodate you. The staff will work with you to build bespoke events and evenings, and can call upon a range of extras to help you get the most out of your experience. Whether you’re after a private tasting, or a cheese and wine night, the expert tasters are on hand to help you to experience the best wines around, and perhaps learn the skills of the art yourself.

As well as offering cheese with your wine, a range of other canapés are available, all designed to be incredible accompaniments to your wine. Options are changed regularly, but includes cured meats, such as Speck ham and duck rillettes, to cold plates including the Bedales scotch egg and Padron peppers.

You can see the full menu, and book a table here.

Get a taste for wine

Of course, if you want to relax and enjoy an evening in peace, you’re covered at Bedales Wines’ Spitalfields bar. There is a large selection of wine sold by the glass, or buy a bottle to take home with you. A new feature to the shop is the ability to try a small 50ml ‘taster glass’ of wine, giving people the opportunity to try more types of wine without having to drink an excessive amount of it. Perfect for the curious wino looking to find a new favourite.

If you find one you really like, you can then buy a larger glass, or a bottle to enjoy at home!
