Veganuary at Spitalfields

17/01/2022

On the search for some delicious new meat-free meal ideas? Whether you’re already following a plant-based diet, trying to incorporate more veggies into it or jumping in with both feet and getting into the spirit of Veganuary this year, there are plenty of options available at Spitalfields Market with our food trucks and restaurants.

The East End of London is known for its diverse and delicious selection of street food offerings, from Ethiopian to Indian to Eastern Mediterranean, many of which offer veggie and vegan dishes that certainly do not lack substance or flavour when it comes to missing meat. Below, discover what one of the best food markets in London can offer to kick start your Veganuary challenge.

Jenki

Your new go-to for morning health kicks, afternoon pick-me-ups, and pre-workout boosts, replacing your daily coffee fix in the form of… matcha! Not only does Jenki have plenty of plant-based milk alternatives to accompany your beverage of choice (think lattes, shakes and coffees), they also serve matcha-infused decadent doughnuts, creamy soft-serve, crumbly cookies and a whole host of other vegan sweet treats, made fresh by local bakers. Find them on Brushfield Street.

Leon

Every day is Veganuary at LEON! Every day is a chance to champion plant-based eating and every day is a reason to be good to your gut. That’s why LEON is hero-ing the Everyday Dhal in January. Inspired by the everyday dishes of India, their rich Dhal is made from fibre-rich red lentils and yellow split peas. Served with coconut yoghurt, pickled peppers and fresh herbs, on a bed of wholegrain rice. Come and check out the rest of the menu – they’re located inside the market on Crispin Place.

Mr Bombay

Clean, honest, authentic – real Indian food! Mr Bombay offers a selection of veggie, vegan, gluten-free and halal dishes on their menu, each one packed with traditional flavours and as much spice as you like. From ‘The Aishwarya’ (masala paneer) to ‘The Kareena’ (paneer wrap) and the deliciously moreish vegetable samosas and onion bhajis, your taste buds won’t know what’s hit them! Make sure you come hungry – the portions are extremely generous!

Ebby’s

Founded in 2012, Ebby’s kitchen was born from a love of cooking and keeping food delicious and ‘fuss-free’. The menu may be small, but their flavours are quite the opposite. The halloumi and vegan kofte wraps are packed with crispy, fresh salad and creamy hummus, and topped with garlic and chilli sauce.
