How to Enjoy Spitalfields at Home During Lockdown

08/04/2020

Due to the current unprecedented climate and subsequent closure of Spitalfields Market and your much-loved shops, restaurants, Arts Market, street food trucks and traders, we are well underway with our behind the scenes campaign to support them as much as possible. We are doing all we can to bring a little bit of Spitalfields into your homes and allow you to continue enjoying all that your favourite brands have to offer! From virtual events to online classes, home delivery and delicious meal kits, follow us to discover how to keep enjoying Spitalfields Market from the comfort of your home.

Last week we introduced our Virtual Traders Market – which is held every Thursday on our Instagram Stories – and Virtual Arts Market – which is held the first Friday of every month at 4 pm on the same platform. Today, we want to shout about some of the other things our incredible retailers are doing for you to try out at home.

Barber Barber

#TalkingBarbershop will be an Instagram Live series by Barber Barber founder, Johnny Baba, who has over 20 years of experience in the industry! Each one will feature a mix of interesting interviews with other industry leaders and style bloggers, as well as home grooming tips and the inside scoop when it comes to the barbering industry. The first episode will be going live at 6 pm on Tuesday 7th April. Follow them on IG to join the conversation!

Leon

Leon are #nolongerjustarestaurant! As well as launching FeedNHS, a not-for-profit campaign raising money for NHS Trusts to get hot, healthy meals to NHS teams on the front line, the incredible team behind the naturally fast food chain have come up with some other great ideas. They recently turned 11 of their restaurants (including Spitalfields) into mini-supermarkets to fix food shortages and catering lay-offs. At the mini-marts, customers can purchase freshly baked sourdough loaves, fresh dairy, produce and ready meals, as well as some essential supplies such as toilet paper and tea bags. On their website, the new Feed Britain section offers food delivery in various box selections. From vegan to family meals, fresh fruit & vegetables to daily essentials, Leon provides an alternative, nutritious and directly-at-home solution for your everyday meals.

Brother Marcus

Who doesn’t love a lazy weekend brunch, especially when it means a trip to Brother Marcus for one of their award-winning dishes? As the doors are currently closed until further notice, they are spilling their kitchen secrets and giving you the chance to brunch like Brother Marcus at home! Check out their Instagram for the next set of live cook-a-longs. So far, they have covered the Sister Special and the In-Law. Going bottomless? Whip up a couple of Brother Marys or Basilikum to accompany your dish for the perfect weekend treat. You can find all previous recipes on their Instagram page too.

Crosstown Doughnuts

Introducing the Crosstown Collective: an artisan food box packed full of fruit, vegetables, fresh bread, pantry essentials and doughnuts to make you smile. Crosstown have teamed up with The Estate Dairy, Millers Bakery and other local fruit and veg supplier to create these curated boxes to deliver across London seven days a week. By purchasing this box, you are helping Crosstown save hundreds of jobs by supporting local food and grocery suppliers and keeping them in business. Order yours here.

Le Swine

Once upon a time, we could only dream of enjoying a bacon butty from Le Swine in bed, so we are thrilled to announce this is now a reality! The DIY kits are available for either 2 (£12) or 4 (£24) people. The kits contain everything you need to recreate London’s best bacon butty at home: old fashioned middle bacon, Clarence Court duck eggs, bacon butter, milk and onion buns, a selection of homemade ketchup pots. AND, last but not least, the kits hold a voucher for a free bacon butty to be used at Spitalfields when Le Swine will be back up and running. Order yours here.
