We’re excited to invite you to ‘FACES of Spitalfields’ – a photography exhibition by Manos Fotiou, sponsored by Spitalfields.
London-based portrait photographer, Manos Fotiou has created a vibrant, large-scale exhibition that is presented within Spitalfields Traders Market, by photographing portraits of the traders, porters, security staff, and management team. The project is designed to celebrate the people who make Spitalfields the unique and diverse place that it is and shine a light on those hidden behind the scenes.
The exhibition is made up of large format portraits displayed within the Market, composed both in a classic portrait format as well as showcasing each person’s stall/workspace. The inclusion of upbeat, warm and humorous bio write-ups of each subject detail the life stories they want to share with the world.
Having worked at the Market as a trader himself, Manos is very familiar and friendly with the Market community, allowing him to really get to know his fellow traders and their stories.
Visitors to Spitalfields will be able to enjoy the exhibition as part of their normal market visit, the portraits seeming to gaze on them as they make their way around the stalls, shops and restaurants, creating curiosity and enhancing the experience.
The exhibition will be interactive, with visitors being encouraged to share their stories and photographs on social media under the hashtag #FACESofSpitalfields. Keep an eye on our social media channels for news and updates.
*FACES of Spitalfields will be open to all from September 20th until November 8th. Entry is free for all visitors.
