Clay pipe jewellery – London's history recycled
At Spitalfields Market: Fridays and Sundays – please check site below for updates
New Cufflink Range
Wear a piece of London’s history with these one-off cufflinks made from clay pipe fragments found on the banks of the Thames.
These unique and unusual items of jewellery are created using fragments of clay smoking pipes collected along the foreshores of the River Thames.
The recycled ceramic fragments, some dating back to the 15th century, have been eroded and coloured by time and tide over hundreds of years. They are used as found and have been not trimmed to size, altered, or enhanced in any way, although every piece has, of course, been cleaned thoroughly.
Amelia Parker jewellery is made by Jane Parker, a graphic designer, who also compiles a blog called Jane's London about the interesting little details found along London’s thoroughfares where she marries her photo collections with observations and comments about our ever-changing capital city. Jane’s interest in London history has been mixed with her creativity and design skills to produce these unique upcycled jewellery products and accessories.
All jewellery is made using silver-plated wire and findings on waxed cotton cords. Prices start at £15. Commissions welcome.
