Be more sustainable this summer!

14/07/2022

Are you on a mission to a more sustainable future? Maybe you’re taking part in this year’s #PlasticFreeJuly, growing your own fruits and veggies at home or opting to cycle instead of taking the car. Spitalfields has sustainability at its core, so we’re always on hand with guides and advice for our visitors and followers to take the first step to an eco-friendly future, starting right here in the market! Below we have shared some of our favourite planet-friendly products from our wonderful traders.

This is NuFlo, taking over the show

Tried, tested and carefully sourced, NuFlo are the creators of award-winning period products that care for both you and the planet. Choose from menstrual cloth pads, menstrual cups, tampons and liners – all organic, plastic free and include reusable cups and pads, making them not only super affordable but super sustainable.

Not only that, but each purchase contributes towards donating period products directly to their two partner charities: Solace Women’s Aid providing refuge to abused women and children in the UK and Power of Pads working with girls in Kenya.

Find them at Spitalfields every Friday and alternative Saturdays.

Add some rustic charm to your home

Gathering inspiration from the wonderful world around us, Urban Driftwood are the makers of a range of incredibly unique homeware and garden accessories. Utilising wood and materials that would otherwise be sent to landfill, this eco-friendly business transforms throwaway textiles into everything from cheeseboards to side tables to mounted bottle openers (check out one of their latest creations for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee) Commmissions are available on request too, so find them in the market every Friday and Saturday, or email here.

If it’s good enough for Mr Greenberg…

Not only is every single one of Malin+Goetz’s luxury skincare made within a 90-mile radius of New York to limit their carbon footprint, they’re certified cruelty-free too. This is down to both founders being avid animal lovers- if you follow them on social, you’ll notice Mr Greenberg, their adorable rescue pug, making an appearance every now and again.

They’ve recently upgraded their gallon refill packaging too, made with post-consumer recycled plastic and a built-in handle for more efficient use to be more environmentally and design friendly. Pick yours up in-store.

Make a sustainable style statement

It ain’t easy being green-y! Social and environmental issues are at the core of Conquer Gear’s values, meaning they are constantly learning new ways to improve their supply chain, use of materials and product, and then practising what they preach by putting it into motion in the way they work.

Visit them every weekend in the trader’s market to find ethically sourced clothing creative by a collective of talented artists, each piece designed to inspire conversation, encourage emotion and most of all, make you laugh!
