The brilliant thing about Spitalfields Market is that there is always something new to experience and discover. With businesses almost to normal and the people of London returning to the streets of East London, events are back on! We have organised plenty of activities, retailers and new vendors to make sure there is always a reason to return.
We can’t keep the rain or the cold weather away, but we can give you a reason to get out and enjoy the sun while it’s here. We want to entertain and encourage people to get involved but not to be made uncomfortable despite the lifting of restrictions. We continue to have hand sanitiser available across the open-air marketplace and ask visitors to kindly respect each others space.
Strut your stuff
Who else loves a little boogie? Since the 6th August, Swing Patrol have been dancing here in Bishops Square with the lovely people of London. These FREE events will continue throughout August and include a range of vintage dances such as the Balboa, the Charleston and a Swing Patrol classic, the Jitterbug (Lindy Hop). This amazing community of over 1,500 passionate dancers and teachers is dedicated to building an energetic and fun group of people. Find out more here.
Not only that, August also saw the return of the incredible Tango-Fever dance school too. From Sunday 22nd of August they are hosting 4 beginners dance events from beginner to more advanced. No experience is necessary, just show up and have fun! Head this way for the timetable.
Sit back and enjoy the music
Nothing beats a relaxing acoustic set as the soundtrack to your shopping, and ‘The Rookery’ are returning to the market to do just that! Every Thursday and Friday they will be adding some rhythm to your lunchtime breaks in the Spitalfields courtyard, so kickback and relax on the deckchairs or get up and show off your Swing Patrol moves in front of the stage. See the latest set times here.
Ready…steady….race!
Spitalfields is hosting an event as part our community engagement program with locally based non-profit children’s charity ‘London Play’ to be part of the biggest and best go-kart race London has ever seen. In the grand finale, 4 teams of children from disadvantaged backgrounds will have a design brief and a theme – which this year is ‘a taste of Spitalfields’ – before they test their karts out and compete for first place. Find out more here.
Looking forward to finding out what else Spitalfields has in store? Make sure to check the events page to stay up to date with future activities and festive fun.
