Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall attended the launch of the Spitalfields Fine Food Market on October 5th in Crispin Place.

The new fully covered food market opened with over 20 traders all with a reputation for quality food and many of whom also trade at the renowned Borough Market.

Whether you just want to pick up a few delicacies or your weekly food shop, Spitalfields food market has plenty to offer.

You will find some of the UK's best butchers producing mutton, free range and organic (rare breed) meats, air-dried hams, bacons, sausages, wild boar, organic fruit and vegetables.

European food delights include olives, antipasti, salami, cheeses, vinegars from Italy and organic Sardinian speciality foods. French cheeses, foie gras, duck confit, cassoulet. Dutch cheeses and German sausages.

For some spice try revelatory Indian chutneys, pickles and sauces that will have your taste buds dancing. Award-winning British pies and pates, a great selection of British bakers alongside authentic traditionally baked continental breads, pastries, quiches, cakes, crumbly fudge, flavour bursting teas from Sri Lanka and coffee merchants will also be available.

The market is complimented by a host of independent specialist food shops surrounding the new Crispin Place and Bishops Square as well as several new independent restaurants.
