TRAVEL THE SILK ROAD: AN IMMERSIVE PHOTOGRAPHY POP-UP EXHIBITION COMES TO SPITALFIELDS

This July, an immersive photography exhibition “Travel the Silk Road with 5’ELEVEN” is coming to Spitalfields, East London. For one weekend only, the free pop-up exhibition takes over 30 Spital Square. On 6-7 July between 10:00 AM and 7:00 PM, independent luxury fashion magazine 5’ELEVEN” celebrates its latest issue, Issue 12, that explores the famous Silk Road trade route – which Spitalfields Market ran through and where Britain’s silk industry began.

Featuring a curated selection of images from global photographers to contributors, the pop-up exhibition showcases the rich heritage and natural landscapes of many countries along the Silk Road that spanned over 4,000 miles, from Egypt, China, Turkey, to Italy and many more. The pop-up exhibition is based on Issue 12’s approximately 700 pages which vividly document the 5’ELEVEN” journey including the local talents, voices, and cultures of the countries along the Silk Road.

In addition to the visuals, as part of the multi-sensory experience, visitors can fully immerse themselves in the 5’ELEVEN” journey along the Silk Road for Issue 12 by hearing curated music, readings, and panel talks of industry voices from across the world.

The exhibition showcases works by photographers Matt Easton, Tak Sugita, Greg Adamski, Robert Spangle, Alixe Lay, Conor Clarke, Andrew Rankin, Edwin S Freyer and Suhyun Kim, among others. Gracing the photographs are some of the fashion industry’s top names, such as Salma Abu Deif, Mao Xiaoxing, Kiko Inagaki, and Matilda Gvarliani.
