Open to the public for one day only as part of London Climate Action Week, international Global Fashion & Luxury Management fashion students are curating a sustainable fashion exhibition named The Agitators: A Sustainable Fashion Exhibit in Spitalfields Studio on Friday 28 June.
Master’s students from Ecole Internationale De Mode & Luxe Fashion & Luxury Business School in Paris, France, in collaboration with King Stage Business School, London have curated an exhibition exploring the relationship between Planet, People and sustainability. Displaying 18 looks on both models roaming the space and mannequins, the exhibition will take the visitors on a multisensory journey, combining sounds, videos and textures found in nature. The EIDM students who have curated the exhibition, are hoping to raise awareness on the urgent need for responsible fashion through mobilising fellow fashion enthusiasts to engage with innovative fabrics and techniques the new-gen designers are coming up with.
Daniel J. Hatton, CEO and Founder of Commonwealth Fashion Council, and Jade Fletcher, CEO of Jade Green Events said: “International collaborations are crucial as our planet, people and businesses move towards building a more regenerative and sustainable future. In 2024 the world is expected to add 113 million more to this consumer class. Asia, led by India and China, will contribute 81 percent of the new consumers in 2024. International initiatives such as this, allow for consumers to understand the importance of ‘meaningful purchasing’ and highlight how global destinations such as Spitalfields can play a crucial part by encouraging a more harmonious future for planet and people.”
Kady Doumbia, CEO of King Stage and Séverine Hammouma Deputy Director EIDM Paris “We are thrilled about this partnership, which allows our institutions to join forces and create a memorable experience for Spitalfields market visitors whilst spotlighting sustainability in fashion. This collaboration paves the way for future innovative projects, enabling us to continue making a positive impact together.”
Jason Dervin, Spitalfields Estate Director, commented: “We are thrilled to welcome the students from EIDM/King Stage to Spitalfields. We are proud of our history of being a hub for fashion and creativity, and are always eager to support emerging talent, particularly when they are working towards as important cause as our planet.”
Many of the retailers and hospitality vendors will offer their support to the students, providing once again an example of Spitalfields’ strong community.
