As we move into another month of staying at home to help protect ourselves and our families, we are thinking of our much-loved Spitalfields community and what we can do to help our independent traders at this extremely difficult time.

Ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes when our Spitalfields artists are creating? What they work with? How they get inspired? Sara Sherwood loves colour and paints from the heart with enthusiasm and fluidity. Inspired by faith, nature and life experiences, she aims to capture joy in her art. Recently she took over the Spitalfields Instagram account to give our followers an exclusive look at her home studio, where she shared tips and techniques as well as a Q&A. Keep checking back for more takeovers from our talented traders and artists.
In the meantime, Sara will be auctioning off one of her best-selling pieces, complete with hand embellishment. Any bids over the retail price of £550 can be made direct to Sara, and 100% of the money raised will be donated to UNICEF to provide humanitarian and developmental aid to children worldwide. Now that we are all spending more time around the home, it’s the perfect opportunity to start slowly replacing disposable items with reusable ones. On Earth Day earlier this month, Co-Founder Vishal shared some brilliant tips on how to start living more sustainably (see our highlights here) and recommended a starter kit of a bamboo toothbrush, dent tabs and shampoo/conditioner bars, all of which can be found on his website here.
