Spitalfields Christmas Gift Guide

10/12/2019

Christmas shopping season is officially in full swing! Whether you’ve actually stuck to your New Years’ resolution to be more organised this year and already bought it, wrapped it, ribbon-ed it and left it pride of place under the tree, or you’ve only just realised that it’s mid-way through December and you haven’t bought so much as a card. Spitalfields is the one-stop-shopping destination for your whole family, your friends and that Secret Santa gift for the office colleague you’ve only spoken to a handful of times.

Beauty Buff

Benefit are renowned for brows that wow, so if you’re going to treat someone to some beauty they will love, you’re at the right place. They’ve got brow setter, brow gel, brow volumizer, brow powder, brow contour and brow pencil, so all bases are covered! Pop in and speak to a member of the Glam team to get advice on the perfect product. Not sure? They also offer brow, make-up and spray tan treatments in-store. Head next door and pick up a gift card at Barber Barber, the coolest barbershop in East London. The talented team pride themselves on impeccable service and extensive knowledge in the craft of men’s haircutting, so the lucky gents in your life are in for a treat.

(You can also get them online here!)

Fashionista

One of the main features that makes Spitalfields stand out from any other market in the UK is the plethora of incredible traders in our market. Each one has a different story behind their brand, why they started, how they source their materials and how they craft their product. Poli & Jo design and make their bags in England using rare leathers and heritage canvas. Their latest release, the S5D1 clutch, has been inspired by the iconic British Land Rover, and the canvas used to create the stylish 4-compartment clutch has been crafted from the same material as the actual roof of the vehicle. As the classic Defenders are no longer in production, the bags are extremely unique, very stylish, functional and make the ideal gift for fashion-forward friends who appreciate a statement piece.

Another London-based brand, and brand new at Spitalfields too, is Dai. The womenswear brand focuses on tailored performance wear combining technical fabrics and premium tailoring, and if you’re shopping for someone with a ‘new year, new me’ mantra and wants to step into the office on Jan 2nd feeling like a boss, this should be your first port of call.

Foodie

Food has got to be one of the best parts of Christmas, right? And no shopping trip is complete without a stop off at Konditor for one of the best mince pies in Britain (as acclaimed by the Telegraph!) They are available to purchase by the dozen (along with the vegan version- hooray!), along with their ‘Holly Jolly Whiskey Bomb’ cake – a decadent boozy essential for the big day! Shopping for someone with a sophisticated palette? Give the gift of grapes! (Well, wine!) Enter Bedales world of wine at one of their upcoming workshop dates, choose from wine and cheese pairings or wine workshops.

Avid Explorer

Home of the iconic Kånken Classic Backpack, Brokedown Palace is the place to go for the seasoned traveller in your life. Made from the super-durable Vinylon-F fabric, making it a perfect, lightweight day bag for any situation that will last Christmas after Christmas! Now the hard part- choosing a colour! What’s more, The Brokedown Palace are supporting Patagonia’s Gift of Giving campaign where customers can donate to environmental groups through the Patagonia Action Works platform. And from 29th November until 31st December Patagonia will match every donation, so you can spend guilt-free. And something for the fitness fanatic who wants to enjoy the open road from the comfort of their own living room? Give the gift of Peloton! The immersive fitness concept creates a world-class indoor cycling studio experience on your time, and in the comfort of your own home.

Eco-Warrior

The shift towards living more consciously in recent years has been replicated in the number of incredible brands popping up and making a change when it comes to caring for the environment. Vimi – Zero Waste Lifestyle offers sustainable alternatives to plastic and single-use products, without scrimping on style! They have a huge range of recyclable steel bottles and coffee cups, bamboo travel cutlery sets and toothbrushes. A great stocking filler and a step towards a plastic-free future! Another positive change you can make this year is to wrap your presents in brown, biodegradable wrapping paper and decorate with as opposed to commercial gift-wrap which is not recyclable. Not only will your presents look lovely, the environment will thank you too!

Art Lover

Shopping for a unique piece of art to be the finishing touch to someone’s home? Discover exciting up-and-coming talent and fall in love with art pieces of all shapes and sizes. Take the opportunity to chat with the artists and learn about their inspiration behind each piece, they will be more than happy to help you decide on the perfect gift! The next Arts Market will be held next on Thursday the 19th – Sunday 22nd– just in time to make last-minute purchases before the big day.
